This information comes from the brochure “Enfermés au mépris du droit, les Palestiniens dans les prisons israéliennes” [Locked up in disregard to law, Palestinians in Israeli prisons,(only in French)] provided by the Platform of French NGOs for Palestine.

“Only immediate family members can obtain an authorisation to visit a prisoner. They are frequently denied an entry permit into Israel for unfounded security reasons. Men aged 16 to 35 are almost systematically prohibited from entering Israel, but they are far from being the only ones. In practice, hundreds of families never obtain permits. Those who obtain a visitation permit generally have to endure a journey of several hours punctuated by checkpoints and body searches before reaching the prison, all this for a bimonthly 45-minute visit.”
