South Africa : Violent chaos as riot breaks out at Pretoria prison [video]

Sunday afternoon was not a peaceful day for staff at the Kgosi Mampuru II prison in Pretoria. As many as 19 people were injured after prisoners started rioting after expressing issues with how parole was being dealt with.

The Times reports that one of the wardens was beaten with a brick after calling inmates the k word. The video then shows warders deployed with dogs, electric shields and pepper spray. Prisoners were armed with “improvised” weapons and attacked the guards.
