Myanmar: 120 political prisoners released from Dawei Prison

A member of the Dawei District Strike Committee told Mizzima that about 120 detainees arrested by the military council, including Ko Kyaw Htwe, Dawei District Strike Committee member, have been released from Dawei Prison.

28 people were released from Dawei Prison on the night of October 18 and more than 90 were released by 4 pm on October 19.Those convicted under Section 505 (a), (c) were released at night October 18 and the defendants were released today, October 19.

The military council announced on October 18 that it would release 1,316 inmates and 4,320 defendants in various prisons.

Ko Kyaw Htwe, a member of the Dawei District Strike Committee, was arrested in a car workshop on Myo Thit (4) street, Dawei township in March and sentenced to prison. Five members of the Dawei District Strike Committee were arrested in Dawei Prison, and of them, one has been released.
